Reformed Episcopal Seminary’s educational effectiveness is shown by the fact that in the last five years 63 percent of all Master of Divinity students have successfully completed their program on schedule. In the last five years, 100% of our graduates have been active in Christian ministry and service. 100% of our students are active in Christian ministry and service. 75% of graduates in the last five years have received vocational placements and 25% have received non-vocational placements.

Results of 2026 ATS Site Visit and

​Evaluation of Reformed Episcopal Seminary

During the 2026 winter term (March 9-12, 2026), the Association for Theological Schools conducted a comprehensive site visit and evaluation for the re-accreditation of the Reformed Episcopal Seminary.  Based on the results of this comprehensive evaluation, the ATS Board of Commissioners voted in June on the accreditation status of the Seminary. The results of this vote were to affirm the Seminary's accreditation for the next seven years until July 31, 2033. The Board also affirmed the distinctive strengths of RES including (1) the fact that faculty and staff are committed to the school’s mission and the administration’s vision; (2) the school strongly affirms its denominational identity; and (3) the school has secured a 20-year leased campus property that aligns with the school’s ethos and mission to educate and train students for ministry.

At the same time, the ATS Board decided to issue a formal warning to the Seminary, “because the school, while substantially meeting the Commission Standards of Accreditation as a whole, is at risk of ... not having sufficient and stable financial resources to achieve its mission with educational quality and financial sustainability.” Such a financial situation is not uncommon among seminaries at this time. Moreover, RES has been aware of the need to strengthen its financial position and has already taken a number of positive steps to ensure that the Seminary will achieve financial equilibrium as well as have sufficient assets in its endowment to ensure financial security in the near term.

ATS allows a school two years to address a formal warning sufficiently. The Seminary continues to work actively with the Diocese of the Northeast and its other partners to ensure the stable financial future of the Seminary.
